Dr. William F. Bria, MD

Dr. William Bria, with over 30 years of experience in clinical informatics is well known in the healthcare industry as a leader and advocate for the CMIO role. Formerly the CMIO for Shriners Hospitals for Children, Dr. Bria directed the medical informatics plan for this 22 hospital system with locations in the US, Canada and Mexico. Previously, Dr. Bria served as Medical Director of Clinical Information Systems at the University of Michigan and at Baystate Medical Center. He has also served as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tufts and the University of South Florida.

Dr. Bria is the co-founder and current Board President of The Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems (AMDIS). He serves on the boards of a variety of organizations and has written numerous articles all focused on understanding and strengthening the relationship between physicians and medical information systems.

Over the years Dr. Bria has received numerous awards and is most recently the recipient of Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Physician Executives in 2013. He also was awarded a place on Modern Healthcare’s 25 Top CMIOs for 2010; and was chosen for the 2010 Physician IT Leadership Award, from HIMSS.
